Week 22 - Quarantine Cravings

Don't get too excited - we promise Kiersten didn't eat all of those sweet treats! Although cravings have certainly drawn her towards the sweet side of life, she does still know how to share. Indeed, we are settling in quite well at the Hitchingham Hostel. These treats were purchased in thanks to a Facebook inspiration - a variety of everyone's favorite snacks. They actually came out of our gas budget, since we have the dollars loaded up on a Speedway card. Considering we are 2 weeks in to April and haven't used March's balance yet, we figured we could afford a tiny splurge for the fam.

This week, baby is as big as a coconut. That's assuming they're all scrunched up. If you stretch them out, though, they are as long as a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese is tall! We enjoyed reading this fun fact on our app. So, we just HAD to snap a picture for comparison. Baby has become quite noticeable, now for a few minutes each day, usually in the evening or following a sweet indulgence.

We figured now would be as good a time as any to announce that we have selected a name. Our newest addition is affectionately known as Raptor. Why? Well, they take up a bit more than their fair share of space and have begun impacting the diaphragm, notably. Specifically, following drinking or eating, Kiersten often experiences something like a hybrid between hiccup and belch which can only accurately be described as the sound you would expect from a velociraptor. Uncle Cameron is quite grateful to have a name to use, since he's spent the past two weeks referring to his "nie - phew" (Niece + Nephew).

Week 34 - Home is where Family is

This week, we eagerly prepared for a celebration. With great excitement, we welcomed our parents and sibling to our home to celebrate: * Independence Day * Kiersten's MBA Graduation * 1 Year Wedding Anniversary * The completed decoration of our home! In the final days leading up to this special occasion, we put the finishing touches on our home, becoming experts at measuring and hanging wall art - something our house has been desperately missing for way too long! Believe it or not, we signed the mortgage on this little place in November of 2018. So, the walls have been in desperate need of some personality. In much thanks to the generosity of our family and friends, we were able to fill it with several meaningful items, as well as a few selections of our own. It brought us great pride to show off our finished space to our immediate family. We have taken the time during quarantine to truly knock items off our project list and make this little house our own.

Week 36 - Maternity Photos

This week was a mixed bag of emotions. Over the course of the holiday weekend, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and visit from our favorite photographers to snap some maternity photos. This week, we took the time to review and selected some of our favorites for you to enjoy. Photos were hard for Kiersten - this pregnancy has brought a lot of weight gain which is hard for her to ignore when she sees photos of herself. You may have noticed that the bump pictures quickly disappeared a few weeks ago. Its been difficult for her to get excited about documenting these changes. However, we knew we would regret not making the effort. So, we put on clothes that make us feel good, armed ourselves with some of our biggest cheerleaders and took some pretty great photos. This week also brought about some very difficult decisions. As we have maneuvered the past several months, the global pandemic has had a profound impact on this pregnancy in ways we never cou...
