Week 8 - Our Babymoon

Morning sickness has graciously calmed down a bit this week, with vomiting kindly being replaced with general nausea. This was a big relief, since we had some epic plans! Long before we knew baby would be along for the ride, we planned a small vacation to the warm shores of Florida. Escaping Michigan's chilly winter was a much needed reprieve. We were blessed to find some great deals and enjoy the warm hospitality of our Florida Diachun Family. We enjoyed some time in Jacksonville, book-ending a long weekend on Daytona Beach.

While we enjoyed the exciting hustle and bustle of our well planned honeymoon, we knew this vacation was going to require a whole lot of RELAX. We hit the road on the way to Daytona Beach with no plan beyond a hotel reservation. Throughout our time in this beautiful oasis, we ventured along the beach and soaked up all the warmth Florida has to offer in January. We made it up as we went along, including accidentally walking 5 miles on our first morning and catching a fun "factory" tour with a local chocolate maker. It was a wonderful escape from the tides of reality, and we were able to thoroughly enjoy quality time with one another.

Week 34 - Home is where Family is

This week, we eagerly prepared for a celebration. With great excitement, we welcomed our parents and sibling to our home to celebrate: * Independence Day * Kiersten's MBA Graduation * 1 Year Wedding Anniversary * The completed decoration of our home! In the final days leading up to this special occasion, we put the finishing touches on our home, becoming experts at measuring and hanging wall art - something our house has been desperately missing for way too long! Believe it or not, we signed the mortgage on this little place in November of 2018. So, the walls have been in desperate need of some personality. In much thanks to the generosity of our family and friends, we were able to fill it with several meaningful items, as well as a few selections of our own. It brought us great pride to show off our finished space to our immediate family. We have taken the time during quarantine to truly knock items off our project list and make this little house our own.

Week 36 - Maternity Photos

This week was a mixed bag of emotions. Over the course of the holiday weekend, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and visit from our favorite photographers to snap some maternity photos. This week, we took the time to review and selected some of our favorites for you to enjoy. Photos were hard for Kiersten - this pregnancy has brought a lot of weight gain which is hard for her to ignore when she sees photos of herself. You may have noticed that the bump pictures quickly disappeared a few weeks ago. Its been difficult for her to get excited about documenting these changes. However, we knew we would regret not making the effort. So, we put on clothes that make us feel good, armed ourselves with some of our biggest cheerleaders and took some pretty great photos. This week also brought about some very difficult decisions. As we have maneuvered the past several months, the global pandemic has had a profound impact on this pregnancy in ways we never cou...

Week 19 - A Whole New World

This week brought change no one could have truly anticipated. We'll start with the photo, above. We have spent the past few months training for a 5k event that was scheduled to take place on Saturday. Due to the coronavirus precautions, the event was cancelled. This was disappointing for our group, since we had all worked so hard to accomplish this goal. So, we decided to gather together (in a group of 10 or less!) to complete the challenge, all the same. Some of us accidentally put in more than 5k, but we all had a great time on a brisk Michigan March morning. We enjoyed fellowship and food before retreating to our homes for the weekend. The hotels have been knocked out at the knees. We were on track for a record breaking March, but all of that has come to a screeching halt as businesses and individuals heed government precautions to avoid travel and gathering in groups. Last Thursday, we held an emergency meeting to brainstorm cost saving measures. Hourly associates had ...
