Week 13 - Where's Baby?

God is good - all the time! All the time - God is good! We are singing praises that God guided our doctor to a solution to the morning sickness we've been fighting. Overnight, we experienced a massive change. The medication is a sleep aid commonly known as Unisom. The science is a bit beyond us, but we are extremely grateful that a small pill before bed has brought about such a drastic change. Kiersten can finally wake up and go to work without fighting nausea - she can actually eat breakfast, and lunch, too! The "side effect" of this treatment is obviously that it makes her very drowsy, a concern for early morning drives. So, we are currently employing patience as we find the happy medium where she can get enough rest to go to work, safely.

Now that the exhausting 1st trimester symptoms are (hopefully) behind us, our excitement is growing. This week, baby is the size of a lemon. Isn't it interesting how we like to use fruit to demonstrate fetal growth? Why not a baseball, this week? Ben's favorite app uses outdoorsy references, letting us know little one is the size of the oh so well known elephant beetle! Our biggest question though? Where is baby hiding! When Kiersten looks in the mirror, she can't spot the lemon! Can you?

Week 34 - Home is where Family is

This week, we eagerly prepared for a celebration. With great excitement, we welcomed our parents and sibling to our home to celebrate: * Independence Day * Kiersten's MBA Graduation * 1 Year Wedding Anniversary * The completed decoration of our home! In the final days leading up to this special occasion, we put the finishing touches on our home, becoming experts at measuring and hanging wall art - something our house has been desperately missing for way too long! Believe it or not, we signed the mortgage on this little place in November of 2018. So, the walls have been in desperate need of some personality. In much thanks to the generosity of our family and friends, we were able to fill it with several meaningful items, as well as a few selections of our own. It brought us great pride to show off our finished space to our immediate family. We have taken the time during quarantine to truly knock items off our project list and make this little house our own.

Week 32 - Worries and Wonders

The discernment for baby names continues. We would really like to take inspiration from the saints in naming our children. How cool would it be to read a story about a superhero and think "hey, that's my name?" How much cooler to know that the superhero was a real life person that did amazing things as a child of God? We hope that these amazing role models will inspire our children, through a variety of ways. In the meantime, we are actively searching through saint stories and feast days, hunting for just the right ones. We are cutting it pretty close to the end! It is a much more difficult challenge than we anticipated - who knew we had so many opinions? This week, the reality of our timeline is becoming increasingly apparent. We are just 6-10 weeks away from meeting our little one. This is extremely exciting but also very scary. In the midst of a pandemic, we don't have the option of attending a child-birth class or touring the hospital where we will labor and ...

Week 24 - Nesting

No, we aren't referring to the bird's nest crazy that's Kiersten's hair. That's just the result of several weeks of quarantine aligned with 24 weeks of pregnancy. We have begun a pretty serious nesting stage. This week, Kiersten loaded and unloaded the dishwasher 3 times in one day. She voluntarily vacuums and dusts the house, something our home in Adrian sorely needs by now, but we still remain at the Hitchingham Hostel. The other residents have grown accustomed to her cleaning frenzies and pitch in as needed to keep her crazy to a minimum. The nesting would be much better used in Adrian, as a nursery is completely non-existent at the moment. Don't worry, Kiersten has been pinteresting for months, and we started a registry a while ago, but nothing had been purchased when this week began. On Friday, we finally got back to the house to spend some quality time preparing for baby's arrival. We cleaned out the 2nd bedroom and made way in the living room...
